For the second time since I have owned them, I peeked in on my U. Phantasticus pair to find my male on the ground. From my experience with U. Sikoraes, this was always a bad sign. It seems, however, that these guys just continue sleeping when they fall from a branch during the day.
For whatever reason, the male’s recent favorite spot is the top corner of the enclosure hanging from a small piece of smooth bamboo. I think slight vibrations from walking by have a tendency to knock him loose sometimes. Needless to say, it makes me pretty scared when I see him on the ground. I am reassured by the fact that I picked him up and put him on one of the fake leaves in the enclosure and he was very lively.

A couple of weeks ago, I took on the project of creating housing for my leachies and my phants. I did this using simple Sterilite containers, patio screen, and hot glue. The outcome was a set of cheap, durable, and easy to clean cages that I am very pleased with. Rather than write up the instructions here, I have put them on geckotime.com so they can be seen by more people. You can read the full post here: http://www.geckotime.com/552/.
I hope everyone finds this both useful and enlightening. Feel free to contact me with any questions, as I may have left some things out.

Eye Candy Geckos has undergone some major changes. As a result, I felt it was time for a website overhaul. This is my first attempt at using WordPress as a complete CMS (for those who aren’t as nerdy as me: content management system), so please bear with me while I work out the bugs. If anyone is interested, version 2 of the site will be running at www.eyecandygeckos.com/eyecandy2, but I won’t be making any more updates or changes.
As for those major changes, I’ve decided to take a hiatus from leopard gecko breeding. As much as I love those amazing creatures, the time sink was just becoming too much to bear. While I have parted with my collection of leopard geckos, I am still keeping a pair of Rhacodactylus Leachianus (New Caledonian Giant Gecko), a pair of Uroplatus Phantasticus (Statanic Leaf-tailed Gecko), and our trio of Uroplatus Sikorae (Mossy Leaf-tailed Gecko). We hope to see some propagation of the sikoraes soon, but it will be a while before we see offspring from the phants and even longer for the leachies.
In the meantime, I am making it a priority to turn this site into a comprehensive database for the care of leos, phants, sikoraes, and leachies. I will do my best to compile husbandry information from several sources and share some of my own experiences. If anybody would like to contribute information to this project, please feel free to contact me using the form on this page.
